Bobby got a job in the 1980s in Brooklyn’s Baptist Medical Center and met a colleague named Cheryl, who later became his wife. They attended Prince’s Purple Rain movie on their first day and also a concert by Gladys Knight and the Pips. Never before had Bobby met anyone like Cheryl. “Cheryl was innocent. The opposite of me. And that’s why I was so attracted to her,” He clarified, “Cheryl was soft. Almost in a naïve way.” He intended to start a future with her even though he knew that at any point in time, it could crumble.
