Bobby Love
Walter – now called Bobby – came to New York in November 1977. He initiated a fresh start and used the small amount of money he had to pay for a motel room, but the money ran out early, and he was forced to live on the streets. Nevertheless, Bobby was able to build up his new life from the streets, and he was able to obtain a birth certificate, a number of social security and, later, a driving authorisation through some deception and lucky breaks.

Needless to say, he began to seek manual labour and then worked odd jobs, receiving paychecks and spending $8 a night in hotels. Then his fortunes changed, and his life changed as well.
