Shortly afterward, Walter’s luck ran out. He and his friends had completely vanished with a range of bank robberies, but one day in August 1971 the plan all crumbled. One of the banks he targeted had a silent alarm which was used by a bank teller to notify the police about the ongoing robbery.

The authorities were already waiting for him in the parking lot when Walter walked out of the bank. “I tried to get away, ducking and weaving, running through cars,” he remembered, but when he was shot by a cop, that was about it. He has been imprisoned, but he has found another way of changing it.
