It dawned on him when he looked down at his ex-partner, still jumping around with excitement, that maybe this was not about the skeleton. There was no quicker way to make John rush to Kyle whenever he exhibited this behavior in all their years of working together. As the last piece of the puzzle clicked, John laughed out loud. This was a plan to get him down here intentionally. He bent down and stroked his fur, looking straight into Kyle’s eyes, and his suspicion was confirmed.

John’s Promise
This was a secret message for John; he missed his partner so much that he had to come up with such a brilliant idea. Since moving to the countryside, Kyle has not seen him, and he probably recalls the good days they worked together. His dog’s undoubted love still moved John for him. He took him quickly to spend time alone on a walk around the woods and could see the pure joy radiating from Kyle. John made a promise to himself before leaving to visit Kyle as often as possible.
